Meet Simon

About me

Hi guys I’m Simon, a born and bred Bristolian. I’m proud of the city I call home but equally love to hit the road to explore what the world has to offer. Visiting new places for work and fun is pretty cool and never gets boring.

I’ve been a photographer since I was a teenager (yes, a long time ago!) and a professional photographer for over 10 years.

Being outgoing and sociable means I’m easily able to put people at ease whether working on a one-to-one basis or in the hustle and bustle of larger events.

As well as being immersed in photography I love all things in the natural world (David Attenborough being my favourite human), anything visually creative, electronic music, decorative antiques and quirky home decor.

I’m also an unashamed cat man with 3 of my own: Max, Louie and Charlie. They mean with world to me as both part of my family and as colleagues, keeping me company while I’m working in my home office (though to date I have not seen them do any work!)

I’m a big kid at heart and love to lark about, but I don’t let that get in the way of my professionalism. In fact it often it helps my photography (especially when working with kids).

My job satisfaction comes from happy clients, so I’ll always be motivated to do my best for anyone who chooses me as their photographer.

That’s me and one of furry boys Louie sat in my freshly decorated front room…and yes! I did choose the colours. Photos taken by my partner in crime (also a talented photographer) Carly Wong.

Me in action

Here’s a fun behind the scenes video during a commercial photoshoot for Forthglade pet food, courtesy of the talented New Fruit Productions. Kinda makes me look like I know what I’m doing! 😉

My background

In 2006, at the age of 22, I started working for a contemporary portrait studio based in the Paintworks, Bristol. 2 years later I became a director of that company.

As the main location photographer and member of the studio’s small team it was there that I learnt how to build a rapport with clients and make them feel at ease in front of the camera.

In 2013 I decided to expand my photographic horizons and sold my share in the company to pursue a freelance career.

Since then I’ve focused my attention on creating a unique lifestyle approach to my family and children’s portraits, and photographing weddings in a stylish natural manner.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this website and my life’s work. Hopefully see you soon!
