Hey there, thanks for dropping by. I’m Simon, a family portrait photographer based in Bristol, who captures photos of you and your loved ones in a completely relaxed and natural style.

I offer personalised characterful photo sessions, which are tailored to your family and children’s personalities. Your shoot can be booked in the great outdoors or in the comfort of your own home. There’s something suitable for everyone!

I use locations all over Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Wales and the surrounding areas. I’m also happy to venture further afield. You can choose a location that has sentimental value or I can recommend great places I’ve visited before.

Invite your extended family to get the whole clan together, or we can just take photos of your kids. Your beloved pets are also welcome to join in, after all they’re part of your family too.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Let’s get out in the fresh air and have some fun! There are many locations in Bristol, Bath, and the South West that are ideal for creating memorable family and children’s portraits. Your photo session can take place virtually anywhere, from a peaceful crop field in the countryside to a graffiti-covered urban scene.

Don’t worry if you think your children won’t cooperate. Many photos in my portfolio have come from fun unscripted moments. Often a bit of mischief can make for the most genuine photos!

RURAL SURROUNDINGS

Children love family adventures in the British countryside. When choosing a location, you might opt for a place that your kids like to visit.

Using ambient light and familiar surroundings provides a relaxed setting for casual photos and offers a great alternative to a studio session.

I will capture photos of your kids playing, exploring, and interacting with their surroundings, whether they’re hiding behind trees, chasing after each other, or just messing around.

THE FOUR SEASONS

It’s not all about summer. Each season has a variety of colours, backdrops, and themes, allowing me to offer diverse location shoots year-round.

Springtime is a time of joy and freshness, with the arrival of new life and a spattering of colourful flowers like daffodils and bluebells. With its longer, warmer days, summer means wearing shorts and t–shirts in (hopefully!) glorious sunshine.

Autumn is a time when trees have rich, warm colours, leaves provide photogenic ground cover, and there is stunning low sunlight. Winter shots look so inviting, adorned with big coats, hats, and scarves on a bright, frosty morning.

URBAN SETTINGS

Of course you don’t have to choose a ‘flowery’ location if that doesn’t suit you and your family. As a family portrait photographer in Bristol and Bath, photogenic urban spaces are easy to come by.

Graffiti, skate parks, waterside locations, and local landmarks provide stunning and diverse backdrops for a photoshoot. Often bright with a variety of colours and textures, they bring a completely different experience to a rural setting.

HOME SWEET HOME

House proud families who have interesting and stylish home decor may find this option appealing. As a Bristol family portrait photographer, I’m happy to travel to your home and use it as a ready-made backdrop.

This choice may be more suited to shy children who may feel more at ease and relaxed in their normal environment. The photoshoot works best when there are familiar household items and favourite toys nearby. It’s also a great way to involve your family’s beloved pet, such as a cat or a young puppy.

I’ve found baby photography works well at home, as it can be done in the comfort of familiar surroundings. Leaving your home with bags full of baby-related paraphernalia won’t be necessary. Everything your little one needs will be close at hand.

We can also use outside space or pop to a local park during the same session, giving you variety in your final set of images.
