It was an absolute joy to be back as a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer for Emma and Ricky’s wonderfully relaxed spring wedding. Having photographed weddings at this stunning Somerset venue many times, I knew we were in for a beautiful day, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The late winter/early spring sunshine made a very welcome appearance, bathing the manor house and its breathtaking grounds in beautiful light from morning right through to sunset. It was the perfect backdrop for a wedding filled with warmth, laughter and plenty of genuine moments.

A Relaxed Spring Wedding at Coombe Lodge

Coombe Lodge and its team are always a well-oiled machine, with everything running seamlessly and making my job as a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer an absolute pleasure.

I first met Emma and Ricky, along with their wonderful daughters, at a wedding fair in Bristol. I instantly knew their wedding was going to be full of warmth, love and a really laid-back atmosphere.

They chose to hold their ceremony indoors, which was a sensible choice for the time of year, although the mild weather could easily have allowed for an outdoor celebration. Either way, the indoor ceremony space is a photographer’s dream, with beautiful natural light pouring through the large windows and creating a lovely atmosphere for the ceremony.

Following a heartfelt ceremony filled with smiles, laughter and plenty of emotion, we headed outside to make the most of the sunshine.

Spring Wedding Photos Amongst the Daffodils

The gardens at Coombe Lodge were looking incredible, with hundreds of vibrant yellow daffodils in bloom. They only appear for a short window each year, so we definitely had to make the most of them!

We wandered through the grounds and captured some relaxed couple portraits amongst the flowers, making the most of the natural spring setting rather than spending ages on formal photographs.

As the afternoon turned towards evening, the light got even better. A stunning sunset cast a warm glow across the venue, creating the perfect conditions for some beautiful evening portraits.

We also took the opportunity to capture a few special moments with Emma and Ricky’s two children, photographs that I’m sure will become some of the most treasured memories from the day.

Singing Waiters and a Packed Dance Floor

The celebrations continued during the meal with a brilliant surprise, a duo of singing waiters!

Their high-energy performance had guests standing on chairs, waving napkins and showing off their best dance moves before the evening party had even properly begun.

The atmosphere was infectious, and it carried on well into the evening. The dance floor was packed, with plenty of laughter, dancing and unforgettable moments to photograph. It was exactly the kind of wedding you’d want to attend as a guest.

And just when I thought the day was winding down, an impromptu limbo competition broke out. It was the perfect way to finish the celebrations, ridiculous, hilarious and full of energy, and naturally made for some fantastic photographs.

Emma and Ricky’s Coombe Lodge wedding was a brilliant reminder of why I love photographing weddings here. Beautiful surroundings are a bonus, but it’s the people, the atmosphere and all those completely unscripted moments that make a wedding memorable.
