It was a joy to be back photographing at one of my favourite Bristol venues, The Mount Without, tucked away at the bottom of St Michael’s Hill in the heart of the city. It’s the kind of place you could easily pass without a second glance, never realising the incredible beauty hidden behind its doors. With its warm, rustic, and slightly abandoned church vibes, it’s a truly breathtaking space, perfect for couples looking for something a little different from the norm.

In the morning, I headed to Henbury to meet the wonderful bride, Alice, and her bridal party. When I arrived the house was already alive with energy, a happy mix of chaos and celebration. Laughter filled the rooms, alongside a few emotional moments, as excitement built throughout the morning. The anticipation peaked during the first look, where even the maid of honour couldn’t hold back tears as she saw her best friend ready for the day.

From there, I made my way to the venue for the main event, held in the awe-inspiring chapel. The interior is strikingly unique, far from pristine, with exposed, weathered walls that beautifully showcase the building’s age and charm. Alice and Adam had already taken care of the legal formalities, giving them the freedom to craft a ceremony that truly reflected them. The groom’s aunt took on the role of celebrant, while friends and family shared heartfelt fun readings and stories. It made for a deeply personal, relaxed, and joy-filled ceremony, with plenty of genuine moments to capture.

The celebrations carried on in the same spirit throughout the day. The speeches struck the perfect balance between hilarious and heartfelt, and for their couple portraits, we stepped away from tradition and used the surrounding Bristol streets as our backdrop, adding an urban, characterful edge to their photos. As evening fell, the dance floor came alive, packed with energy and unforgettable killer moves that made for some fantastic images.
