Yarlington Barn wedding photographer

It was my first time being a wedding photographer at Yarlington Barn in Somerset and I was excited to explore a new venue.

The main barn is situated next to a beautiful lake, making it a simply stunning location for a wedding day celebration. At one point a brown hare made an appearance on the far side of the lake and a colourful kingfisher whizzed by, then perched on a branch of a tree.

We were blessed with some incredible September sunshine, creating perfect lighting conditions for photos. After Lucy and Bo’s heartfelt ceremony, guests were greeted with platters of tasty pasties, inspired by the groom’s Cornish heritage. For the relaxed couples portrait we took a stroll around the lake making the most of the venue’s picturesque grounds. At one point, the newlyweds’ rather dapper looking, cute 1 year old son joined in.

We found Simon’s reportage style delivered exactly what we wanted and his control of light and composition meant we got a huge array of shots that feel representative of our day, not formulaic or generic. Crucially he was clear from start to finish on the process, what the day involved and asked us what we wanted.

He was also very good at sticking to us like glue without being conspicuous! It was lovely to get the photos back and relive all the anticipation and joy, knowing we will treasure them always.“
