I was really looking forward to photographing Alexis and Sam’s big day and being a Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel wedding photographer. The couple chose my Part Day package, so I arrived shortly before the ceremony and stayed through to just after their first dance, giving me plenty of time to capture the key moments while keeping things relaxed.

Right in the heart of Bristol, beside the cathedral on College Green, the hotel is a fantastic setting for a city wedding. While the hotel itself has limited outdoor space, its central location more than makes up for it.

A Bristol City Centre Wedding

With the historic Harbourside and some of Bristol’s most recognisable spots just a short walk away, there were plenty of options for couple portraits.

We could make the most of the city itself rather than being restricted to the hotel grounds, using Bristol’s architecture and streets to give the photographs a real sense of place. Even the front of the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel, with its impressive historic architecture, made a fantastic backdrop.

A Family-Focused Wedding

Alexis and Sam have two lively kids who brought loads of joy and energy to the day. From cheeky smiles and funny little moments during the ceremony to throwing some serious shapes on the dance floor later in the evening, they were a brilliant part of the story and gave me plenty of opportunities for natural photographs.

For me, weddings are always about more than just the couple. The people around you are such a huge part of the day, and capturing those relationships, reactions and spontaneous moments is a big part of what I love about wedding photography.

Relaxed Wedding Photography in Bristol

As with all my wedding packages, Alexis and Sam also had a complimentary pre-wedding shoot, and they chose to include their children too. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet me properly, get used to being in front of the camera and figure out how I work before the wedding day.

That little bit of preparation definitely helped everyone feel more relaxed and at ease when the wedding day arrived. By the time I started photographing the wedding, the camera was already a familiar part of the experience, which helped create some genuinely natural and joyful moments.
