Hey there! I’m Simon, a family portrait photographer based in Bristol, and I’m all about capturing the fun, chaos and little moments that bring out your family’s true personality. I regularly photograph families across Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, South Wales and beyond. 

I offer relaxed photo sessions that are all about you and your clan. No awkward posing, no forced smiles and definitely no need to get everyone sitting perfectly still. We’ll let the kids be kids and capture the fun, madness and little moments that make your family yours.

We can head outdoors and let them run wild, explore somewhere you love, visit somewhere new, or stay cosy at home where everyone feels comfortable. Whatever works for your family. You can pick somewhere that means something to you, or I can point you towards some of my favourite spots I’ve used before.

Bring the whole gang, grandparents, nieces, nephews and everyone in between if you fancy it, or we can concentrate on your kids. And yes, the furry members of the family are very welcome too. After all, they deserve a photo or two!

THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Let’s get outside, breathe in some fresh air and have a lot of fun!

There are loads of brilliant spots around Bristol, Bath and the South West for family and children’s photography. We can head to a favourite park, explore the countryside, find a peaceful crop field or even go somewhere a little more urban and colourful. Your photo session can take place pretty much anywhere that feels right for your family.

And don’t worry if your children aren’t exactly known for sitting still! Some of my favourite photos have come from the completely unplanned moments, running around, getting muddy, climbing things, pulling silly faces or generally causing a bit of mischief. In fact, a little chaos is often where the best photos happen.

COUNTRYSIDE ADVENTURES

There’s something pretty special about getting the kids out into the countryside. Whether it’s a favourite family walk, a local beauty spot or somewhere they love exploring, familiar surroundings can make all the difference.

Rather than standing around and saying “cheese!”, we can let them loose and see what happens. They can climb trees, hunt for bugs, run through the fields, scramble up muddy paths or simply mess around together while I quietly capture the good stuff.

The result? Natural, colourful photos that feel like your family, rather than a formal studio portrait.

CITY VIBES

Not everyone fancies wandering around a field, and that’s absolutely fine! If you and your family are more at home in the city, there are loads of brilliant urban spots around Bristol, Bath and beyond.

Think colourful graffiti, skate parks, cool architecture, waterside locations, hidden corners and some of Bristol’s brilliant landmarks. The mix of bold colours, textures and interesting surroundings can give your photos a completely different feel to a countryside session.

So if your family is more city living than countryside, we can embrace it! We’ll explore, have a wander and see what we find along the way.

HOME SWEET HOME

Sometimes the best place for family photos is right where you are. If your home is where everyone feels most comfortable, we can stay put and make the most of it!

Home sessions work particularly well with babies and younger children. There’s no need to pack half the house into a bag or worry about keeping everyone happy somewhere unfamiliar. Favourite toys, snacks, blankets and all those little things they love are right there when you need them.

It can also be a great option for shy or slightly more cautious children. They can potter around, play with their favourite things and generally do their own thing while I capture the good stuff. And of course, your furry family members can get involved too!

We don’t have to stay indoors either. If you’ve got a garden, we can head outside for a bit, or we can pop to a nearby park and mix things up.

Basically, we’ll make your home part of the story.

It’s not all about summer! Every season brings something different, from spring flowers and long summer evenings to crunchy autumn leaves and crisp winter mornings.

Full of colour and new life, with daffodils, bluebells and blossom popping up everywhere. It’s a lovely time to get outside, explore and let the kids run wild.

➤ Sunny summer adventures

Longer evenings, lush green spaces, bare feet, a bit of sunshine and hopefully a tan! Perfect for running around, exploring and generally making the most of being outdoors.

➤ Golden autumn colours

Pretty hard to beat for colour. The trees put on a proper show, the ground gets covered in crunchy leaves and the softer light can look absolutely gorgeous. Plus, there’s something very satisfying about letting the kids loose in a giant pile of leaves!

➤ Crisp & cosy winter

The colder months have their own charm too. Wrap everyone up in big coats, hats and scarves and head out on a bright, crisp day. Frosty fields, bare trees and that lovely winter light can make for some seriously cosy, atmospheric family photos.

LET THEM DO THEIR THING

Not every kid wants to stand still and smile at a camera, and honestly, why should they?

If they love skateboarding, tennis, football, dancing, climbing, riding bikes or anything else, let’s make it part of the shoot. I’d much rather photograph them doing something they love than asking them to pose awkwardly for an hour. It’s a great way to get them relaxed, have some fun and capture a much better sense of who they really are.

Just tell me a little about them and what they’re into, and I can help come up with ideas and locations for your session that will help them feel completely at ease. The more it feels like their shoot, the more natural and comfortable they’ll be in front of the camera.

1. Purchase a photography session voucher

Treat yourself or surprise someone special with the gift of a beautiful photography session for just £50. Each session includes a complimentary 7x5in print of your choice.

2. Choose a location

Pick somewhere you already love, or I can suggest a few of my favourite spots that I’ve used before. Parks, countryside views, the city you call home or your favourite walk. Pretty much anywhere goes.

3. Book a date & time

Weekday or weekend, morning or afternoon. I’ve got plenty of slots available and we’ll find a time that works for you and your family.

4. Let the kids loose

This is the fun bit. You hang out, explore, play and generally do your thing, while I capture all the good stuff. No awkward posing required!

5. View your private gallery online

Once your photos are ready, you’ll get your own online gallery where you can take your time looking through all the lovely moments we captured. Every gallery is protected with its own private password.

6. Choose your favourite images

There are a few different options to suit different budget, with prices ranging from £40–£360. Pick the photos you love most and decide how you’d like to enjoy them.
