It was an absolute joy to be back as a Coombe Lodge wedding photographer for Emma and Ricky’s wonderfully relaxed spring wedding. Having photographed at this stunning Somerset venue many times, I knew we were in for a beautiful day, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The late winter/early spring sunshine made a welcome appearance, bathing the manor house and its breathtaking grounds in glorious light from morning through to sunset.

Coombe Lodge and its team are always a well-oiled machine, with everything running seamlessly and making my job an absolute pleasure. I first met Emma and Ricky (along with their wonderful daughters) at a wedding fair in Bristol, and I instantly knew their day would be full of warmth, love, and a laid-back vibe. They chose to hold their ceremony indoors, wise for the time of year, though the mild weather could easily have allowed for an outdoor celebration. Regardless, the indoor space is a photographer’s dream, with beautiful natural light pouring into every corner from the large windows.

Following a heartfelt ceremony filled with lots of smiles and emotion, we made the most of the sunshine and headed outside to enjoy the grounds. The gardens were alive with hundreds of vibrant yellow daffodils, which are only in bloom for a short window each year. So we made sure to feature them in their natural, spring-inspired wedding photos. As the day drew on, a stunning sunset cast a warm glow across the venue, creating the perfect backdrop for couple portraits, along with a few special moments capturing their two children.

The celebrations continued during the meal with a brilliant surprise, a duo of singing waiters. Their high-energy performance had guests up on chairs, waving napkins and showing off their best dance moves before the evening party had even begun. That infectious atmosphere carried on well into the night, with a packed dance floor and plenty of unforgettable moments to photograph. It was exactly the kind of wedding you’d love to attend as a guest. To top it all off, just before I wrapped up for the day, an impromptu limbo competition broke out, ending the day on a fun and memorable high, and making for some fantastic photos.
