De Vere Tortworth Court wedding photographer – Catherine + Nick

As a De Vere Tortworth Court wedding photographer, I absolutely love photographing weddings that feel personal, relaxed and full of genuine moments. Catherine and Nick’s beautiful summer wedding at De Vere Tortworth Court was exactly that, a brilliant celebration filled with sunshine, laughter, happy tears, family, friends and plenty of fun.

Set in the heart of Gloucestershire, Tortworth Court is an incredible wedding venue. The grand historic manor house, beautiful gardens, woodland, far-reaching views and huge variety of spaces make it a fantastic setting for weddings of all kinds. Catherine and Nick chose the light-filled Orangery for their wedding, creating the perfect backdrop for a day that was full of personality from start to finish.

A Summer Wedding at Tortworth Court

There was a brilliant atmosphere from the very beginning. The morning preparations were full of excitement, with what felt like a never-ending group of bridesmaids and groomsmen, 15 in total! There was plenty of laughter, a few pre-wedding nerves and lots going on, which made for some great candid photographs. Rather than spending the morning worrying about getting every detail perfectly posed, I could simply move around, soak up the atmosphere and capture everything as it unfolded.

The ceremony took place in the beautiful Orangery, with its impressive Victorian architecture and huge windows filling the space with natural light. Catherine and Nick had really gone to town with the décor and the room looked incredible with a stunning colour palette. It was an emotional ceremony too, with plenty of happy tears from family and friends. There were so many little moments happening throughout, reactions, laughs, hugs and glances between guests, that I was genuinely spoilt for choice.

Confetti, Gardens and Couple Photos

After the ceremony, Catherine and Nick headed outside into a confetti tunnel made up of all their guests. As they walked through, they were showered in flower petals, creating some brilliant, colourful photographs and one seriously fun way to kick off the celebrations.

The grounds at Tortworth Court are a wedding photographer’s dream, with beautiful gardens, mature trees, woodland and plenty of different backdrops for photographs.

While everyone else enjoyed drinks and canapés, we took a little time to wander around the grounds and capture some relaxed photos of the two of them. I always like to keep this part of the wedding day pretty chilled. There’s no disappearing off for hours or making couples spend their afternoon posing for endless photographs. Just a little bit of time together, a few beautiful photos and then it’s back to the party.

Tortworth Court Wedding Reception

While we were outside, the Orangery was being transformed for the wedding breakfast. The colourful flowers looked incredible against the historic setting, and before long the room was full again, with everyone enjoying good food, drinks and the speeches.

As the evening celebrations got underway, the dance floor was packed. There was plenty of energy, plenty of questionable dancing and more than enough action to keep me busy with the camera. Catherine and Nick certainly weren’t about to leave all the fun to their guests. At one point, the newlyweds even jumped behind the decks themselves and dropped some Drum & Bass, taking the evening celebrations to another level.

For me, this is exactly what great wedding photography is about. Not just photographing how a wedding looks, but capturing how it felt, the excitement, the emotion, the ridiculous moments, the people you love and all the little things that make your wedding completely yours.
