Super-chilled yurt wedding

I had the absolute pleasure of being a Leyfold Farm wedding photographer for Flo and Dan’s super-chill wedding at a brilliant celebration full of love, laughter, disco balls and some seriously impressive dance-floor moves.

The couple and their wonderful guests made a bell tent their home for the celebrations, giving the whole wedding a relaxed, festival-style atmosphere that suited them perfectly. As a Leyfold Farm wedding photographer, I love this kind of celebration. It felt informal, personal and completely focused on having a brilliant time with the people they love.

A Relaxed Festival Wedding at Leyfold Farm

Flo is a little bit obsessed with mirror balls, so naturally they had to feature throughout the day. Small disco balls were scattered around the venue, while a full-size mirror ball hung proudly above the dance floor, ready for the evening celebrations.

Later in the evening, she changed into a sparkly, mirror-ball-inspired party dress that caught every bit of light in the room. It was absolutely perfect and summed up the fun, colourful personality of the whole day.

An Emotional Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was packed with emotion and joy, with plenty of genuine moments between Flo, Dan, their family and friends.

One of my favourite moments was a completely spontaneous singalong to Bill Withers’ classic “Lovely Day”. Everyone joined in, smiles appeared on all guests faces, yes, that included me behind the camera!

It’s moments like this that make wedding photography so much fun. You can’t plan them, pose them or recreate them. They just happen, and that’s exactly what I want to capture. The alfresco speeches that followed were every bit as brilliant, mixing heartfelt words with plenty of laughs and giving me loads of wonderful reactions and moments to photograph.

Disco Balls, Limbo and Dancing

As the evening went on, guests took on the limbo pole challenge, something I would highly recommend for any wedding! Things then moved onto the dance floor, where the band got everyone going with a collection of proper dance-floor classics.

With the mirror ball spinning overhead, Flo’s sparkly party dress catching the light and the whole crowd throwing themselves into the celebrations, there was no shortage of brilliant photographs to capture.

Flo and Dan’s Leyfold Farm wedding was exactly the kind of celebration I love photographing, relaxed, personal, full of personality and completely focused on having a great time. Honestly, it was the kind of wedding I would have loved to attend as a guest.

He charges per part of the day you would like him to photograph, which I didn’t find to be that common and really allowed us to tailor his service to our wedding day.

He also provided us an engagement shoot at no extra cost, which we hadn’t thought about before but allowed us to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day.

Simon was always accessible over email, travelled to the venue for the engagement shoot, and was amazing on the day.
