Maunsel House wedding photography

It was great to be back at one of my favourite Somerset wedding venues, Maunsel House. A¬†picture-perfect country house with its beautiful and quirky interior it is certainly a very cool and different setting for a wedding. I’d never tire of taking photos here.

Kirsty and Sam were my first couple of 2018 and boy what a way to kick off my wedding season! Being a winter wedding they completely lucked out on the weather with wall-to-wall sun. Lovely low winter light is any photographer’s dream.

The days proceedings started off in the stunning Kings Room complete with its own grand four poster bed which could probably comfortably sleep 5 fully grown adults! With four lively bridesmaids and emotional mum and dad it was a fun morning with plenty of great photo opportunities.

The happy couple decided to tie the knot in the romantic setting of the Regency Ballroom. Flooded with natural light and tastefully decorated it was ideal for the ceremony, which was rather emotional.

We managed to brave the cold weather to get some fun group shots. It’s not every wedding day you see the groomsmen and bridal party sporting very large guns, decommissioned I might add.

After a quick warm up indoors Kirsty, Sam and myself had a tour of the grounds for their couple shoot. Some photos looked like they could have been taken in the middle of the summer as we were blessed with some amazing light. Hats off to the pair of them for bearing the chill factor.

When we returned the team at Maunsel House had changed the ballroom in a magical place for the wedding guests to sit down to enjoy some grub and a round of hilarious speeches.

The sun set at around 5.30pm and meant I could set up a dramatic back-lit couple shot. This is something I often create during the winter months due to shorter daylight hours. A couple of fire pits added some atmospheric smoke and transformed the shot.

The venue is famous for being a ‘party house’ and these guys continue that trend boogieing on the dance floor until the early hours.
