Meet Simon

As far back as I can remember I’ve been fascinated by the magic of photographs and the emotions they can evoke. I first picked up a film camera when I was a young boy and I have lots of fond memories of taking photos while on family holidays.
I started taking it seriously when I was 18, which made it a natural course for a career. 20 odd years down the line I’m still as curious and excited as I’ve ever been when taking photos.
I can’t get enough of David Shrigley’s artwork and I absolutely adore Wes Anderson films, particularly Fantastic Mr Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel and The Royal Tenenbaums.
I’m commonly found watering a menagerie of house plants, while sipping on a kombucha or Pukka tea and listening to chilled out electronic dance music.
I’m forever quoting Alan Partridge, League of Gentlemen, The Fast Show & Father Ted.
I’m proud that I’m often described as an easy going but hard working photographer, who is fun to have around. It’s also noted that I’m great at making kids smile, probably because I’ve not lost my immature silly sense of humour.
I live in an Edwardian terraced house packed full of period charm with my partner in crime Carly and our 3 amazing cats. Carly and I have been together for over 13 years and share similar tastes in almost everything. We have acquired a collection of weird and wonderful decorative antiques, which are displayed in our fun and colourful home.
I like to think that I’m a bit of an interior designer and I absolutely love incorporating fresh and bright colours in my home decor. As you can probably tell, it also finds a way into my style of photography.
My very handsome furry family consists of Max, Louie and Charlie. They mean the world to me as part of my family and as colleagues, keeping me company while I’m working my magic in my home office (though to date I have not seen them do any work or make me a single cup of tea!) They do make up for it with lots kisses, cuddles and daily comical antics.
When I’m not photographing humans I’m out at the crack of dawn capturing photos of wildlife, such as the beautiful red fox and brown hare. I love to travel the UK and the rest of the world for lots of wildlife adventures. So there’s rarely a day that passes that I haven’t done something photography related.
I’m really proud that I’ve had some of my personal work awarded in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year, MontPhoto and the British Wildlife Photography Awards.
