Old Down Manor wedding photography

It was great to be back at one of my favourite Bristol wedding venues, Old Down Manor. The picture-perfect country house located just outside of Bristol has a stunning sweeping staircase, picturesque gardens and photographic backdrops which any photographer would love.

I met the awesome Jodie and Olly at a wedding fair and we instantly hit it off and I knew it would be so cool to part of their special day. With all my couples I offer a freebie engagement shoot to break the ice. For this I met them at their home in Chipping Sodbury and headed to some nearby crop fields for a golden hour shoot at sunset. Like most couple they were a little apprehensive about having their photos taken but it didn’t take long for them to warm up and get some cracking shots. I find this always helps with photos on the day as well.

In the morning I met both the boys and the girls for the wedding preparations. The boys were pretty keen, all dressed and ready to rock and roll by 10am. Like most grooms we headed to the pub for a cheeky beer (or 2).

The girls got ready in the beautiful and light filled bridal suit at Old Down Manor. This room is fantastic for photography as it has large windows letting in tones of light whatever the weather is doing outside. Like the rest of the venue it’s tastefully decorated making it a stunning backdrop for photos. The girls were in high spirits and dad was flapping in the background and I think was probably more nervous that the bride. Safe to say dad was very emotional on his first look at his stunning daughter all dressed up ready to get married.

The ceremony was held in the back room of the venue and again this is also filled with light making my job as an Old Down Manor wedding photographer so much easier. Emotions ran high from Jodie, Olly and their guests. Olly shed a few tears as he saw his stunning bride walk dow the aisle towards him. I have to say I do love a tearful groom. Happy tears of course.

After the ceremony we were blessed with an awesome spring day with beautiful sunny weather. Obviously we headed outside to top on our vitamin D. As we had the luxury of decent weather we headed off around the stunning grounds of the venue for a round of couple shots.

Jodie and Olly’s wedding breakfast was probably the most lively I seen with a secret singing waiter to get the action going. I chatted with him to make sure I was in the right place to capture guest reactions as he started his show. Everyone participated in the singing helped by a few glasses of wine. There was even a giant conga which headed outside and weaved in-between all the table. Now that’s how to have a wedding breakfast!

The party atmosphere carried on into the night topping off a truly amazing day which I was so happy to part of. I like to thank Jodie and Olly for choosing me as their wedding photographer and wish them both a long happy married together. Hopefully I’ll see them again soon.
