Old Down Manor wedding photography – Frances & Danny

I met Frances and Danny back in February to discuss photographing their wedding just 2 months later in April. I think it’s the quickest turn around from booking to actually shooting I’ve ever had for a wedding. Normally couples book me a year to 18 months in advance, so it was nice to see them again so soon.

Frances and Danny didn’t want the morning preparations photographed so they booked me from the ceremony onwards. They choose the lovely Old Down Manor to tie the knot. I hadn’t been to this venue for a couple of years so it was great to be back.

The groom Danny was a little nervous in the run up to the ceremony but when he saw his beautiful bride the nerves turned into emotions. The stunning ceremony was topped off with hand fastening, which symbolises their connection and devotion to one another. This is actually where the term ‘tie the knot’ originates from.

For the couple photos we took a leisurely stroll around the beautiful grounds at Old Down. We were blessed with carpets of daffodils which I made full use of and fitted perfectly with the vibrant colour theme of their wedding.

We then headed back to the wedding party for some delicious food and a round of heartfelt speeches, which were also pretty funny. The bride even had a few words to say.

Frances and Danny organised an amazing juggler and fire performer to keep them and their guests entertained. The poor best man got roped into having him juggle 3 knifes while he walked over him. The rest of the show was breath-taking, a proper visual feast.

Straight after this it was time to hit the dance floor to strut their stuff. The band rocked the crowd and there were some serious shaped being pulled.

To end my time with the happy couple I took them outside for some backlit evening shots. We used a very ornate gate and fence to create a magical photo. The perfect way to end a beautiful wedding.
