It was my first time being a Farnham Pottery wedding photographer, and I couldn’t have been more excited! This unique Surrey wedding venue is packed full of history and rustic charm, making it exactly my kind of place to photograph.

The Victorian pottery has a brilliant mix of characterful interiors and beautiful outdoor spaces, creating loads of opportunities for natural, relaxed wedding photography. From the warm brickwork to rustic interior, it was a real joy to photograph from beginning to end.

A Relaxed Wedding at Farnham Pottery

The day began with all the excitement of the morning preparations. The bridal party and groomsmen were getting ready in two beautiful nearby cottages on the Northbrook Estate, just a short drive from Farnham Pottery.

There was the usual mix of anticipation, nerves, laughter and plenty going on as everyone got ready for the celebrations. It was a great opportunity to capture all those little moments that happen before the ceremony, the details, the reactions and the people who make the morning so memorable.

A Personal Hand fasting Ceremony

The ceremony was particularly personal, with the couple choosing to include a traditional hand fasting ritual as part of their celebration.

Their hands were bound together to symbolise their union and commitment, with several family members taking part in the ceremony. The final knot was tied by the groom’s sister, a lovely nod to the familiar phrase “tying the knot.”

It was one of those personal touches that made the ceremony completely unique to the couple and gave me some lovely moments to capture.

October Wedding Photography at Farnham Pottery

We were incredibly lucky with the weather, enjoying glorious October sunshine throughout the day.

The warm sunlight bounced beautifully off the Victorian brickwork of Farnham Pottery, creating gorgeous light for both the group photographs and relaxed couple portraits.

The weather was so good that the couple even decided to hold their speeches outside at the back of the venue. It was a brilliant way to make the most of the sunshine and created a really relaxed atmosphere as everyone gathered together to listen, laugh and celebrate.

As a Farnham Pottery wedding photographer, I loved having so much character and texture to work with. The combination of historic architecture, warm brick, natural surroundings and beautiful autumn light made photographing the day incredibly enjoyable.

A Fun Evening Celebration

The evening celebrations were full of fun, laughter and plenty of personality.

One of my favourite moments was a surprise appearance from the couple’s cat, although sadly not in person! Instead, hilarious photos of their feline friend appeared on sticks and made their way onto the dance floor.

It was exactly the kind of wonderfully random detail that makes a wedding memorable and gave everyone another reason to laugh.

The whole day was an absolute joy from start to finish. From the personal ceremony and beautiful October sunshine to the relaxed portraits and hilarious dance-floor antics, this was a brilliant example of how much personality you can bring into a wedding at Farnham Pottery.
