The Great Tythe Barn wedding photographer – Alex + Sean

I was super excited to be the Great Tythe Barn wedding photographer for Alex and Sean’s chilled-out wedding at this gorgeous rustic barn in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside, just a stone’s throw from the iconic village of Tetbury.

The Great Tythe Barn is a brilliant setting for a relaxed countryside wedding, with its rustic character, beautiful gardens and plenty of space to celebrate. Alex and Sean’s day was exactly the kind of wedding I love to photograph, informal, fun and completely focused on enjoying the day with the people they love.

Getting Ready at The Great Tythe Barn

Alex and Sean both got ready at the venue, which meant I could bounce between the bride and groom preparations throughout the morning with ease.

There were definitely a few nerves, but mostly just loads of excitement for the day ahead. Everyone was in great spirits, and there was plenty happening as the morning unfolded, making it a brilliant way to kick off the wedding day.

An Outdoor Wedding Ceremony

Alex and Sean decided to have their ceremony outside in the venue’s beautiful well maintained garden.

In the middle of the crazy heat of summer 2026, the weather was actually pretty kind to us. It was still warm, but a little cooler than some of the scorching days we’d been having, meaning the gents could make it through the ceremony without completely melting in their suits!

Once Alex and Sean had officially tied the knot, they headed back down the aisle to a brilliant shower of flower petals from their excited guests. It was the perfect way to celebrate becoming newlyweds.

The newlyweds jumped into Alex’s uncle’s amazing Morris Minor, complete with a converted soft top, and headed off for a quick spin around the local area. They soon returned to a very excited wedding party who were more than ready to crack on with the celebrations.

Relaxed Wedding Photography at The Great Tythe Barn

The Morris Minor was far too cool not to use in the photographs, so we made the most of it as a backdrop for the group photos and handful of couple portraits. With its vintage character and the rustic surroundings of the barn, it fitted the whole feel of the wedding perfectly.

When it came to the couple photos, we simply took a wander around the grounds and grabbed some relaxed portraits while Alex and Sean had a little time to themselves to soak everything in.

I never want couples disappearing off for ages to have their wedding photos taken. You’ve got a party to enjoy!

So we kept things short, relaxed and easy. A little time together, some great photographs and then straight back to their guests.

That’s exactly how I like photographing weddings at The Great Tythe Barn, capturing the important moments without taking couples away from the people and celebrations they’ve spent so much time planning.

A Party in the Barn

The wedding breakfast and evening celebrations all took place in the main barn, which soon turned into a proper party.

The DJ smashed out some classic wedding bangers and the dance floor was packed with guests of all ages. There were some serious dance moves going on, which meant plenty of opportunities to capture some fun, energetic and slightly chaotic photographs of everyone throwing shapes.

Alex and Sean’s Great Tythe Barn wedding was a brilliant day from start to finish, super-relaxed, loads of fun and completely centred around having a great time with the people they love. And honestly, that’s exactly how a wedding should be.
