The Matara Centre wedding photography – Lowri + Ajay

I was absolutely thrilled to photograph Lowri and Ajay’s vibrant British-Indian fusion wedding at The Matara Centre in Gloucestershire. It was an unforgettable celebration, bringing two cultures together in a brilliant mix of colour, emotion, tradition and energy from start to finish.

It was also one of my longest, and most rewarding days behind the camera. Starting at 7:30am and finishing at 9:30pm on a packed dance floor, I got to witness the whole day unfold in spectacular fashion.

A British-Indian Wedding at The Matara Centre

The celebrations began with Ajay’s lively Baraat, a traditional groom’s procession. Riding in on a white horse, surrounded by energetic drumming, music and dancing, Ajay made a suitably spectacular entrance before the wedding party travelled to the Shri Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Swindon for the beautiful Anand Karaj ceremony.

It was an incredible start to the day, packed with movement, colour and genuine excitement, exactly the kind of thing I love capturing with a documentary approach.

A Fusion Wedding at The Matara Centre

After the Anand Karaj, everyone returned to The Matara Centre for the British part of the celebrations. The venue provided a beautiful and atmospheric setting for the next stage of the day, with a heartfelt, personalised ceremony led by a celebrant.

It was a lovely contrast to the energy and spectacle of the morning, while still feeling completely connected to everything that had come before. The celebrations then continued with a delicious meal, hilarious speeches and the obligatory cake cutting, before the dance floor started filling up.

A Wedding Full of Colour, Culture and Energy

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings is seeing how couples bring their own personalities, backgrounds and traditions into the day. Lowri and Ajay’s wedding did this brilliantly. Rather than choosing between two cultures, they brought them together to create something completely personal to them.

There was also plenty of fun throughout the evening, including some traditional Indian wedding games that got everyone involved and helped keep the celebrations going late into the night.

By the time I finally packed away my cameras at 9:30pm, the dance floor was still absolutely rocking. Lowri and Ajay’s Matara Centre wedding was a truly unforgettable celebration, full of love, laughter, colour and an incredible fusion of British and Indian traditions. It was a seriously long day behind the camera, but the kind of wedding that reminds me exactly why I love what I do.
